The relevance and the meaning of the principle of publicity for a democratic political representation: Reflections based on Kant and Condorcet

Resumo:
This paper brings into question the secret vote in Parliaments on the basis of a more comprehensive analysis about political representation in democracy. The arguments are built based on the political theories of Kant and Condorcet and sustain th e importance of using the principle of publicity as a criterion for the moral and political legitimacy of a representative and democratic government.
