Resumo:

O presente artigo descreve o percurso do tratado hipocrático Sobre a arte médica entre os séculos III a.C. e XVII d.C., bem como analisa algumas das questões tratadas pelo autor, a saber as antíteses tyche/techné etechné/physis, a idéia da medicina como ciência causal e preditiva e as concepções epistemológicas ou a teoria do conhecimento médico.

Abstract:

This article presents the course of the Hippocratic book The Art from the 3rd century b.C. until the 17th century a.D., and analyzes some issues discussed by the author, viz., the antitheses tyche/techné and techné/physis, the idea of medicine as a causal and predictive science, and the epistemological conceptions or the theory of medical knowledge.
